Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
At Craigieburn Primary School, we recognise that Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) plays an important role in supporting students to thrive both academically and personally. SEL helps students develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, make responsible decisions, show empathy, develop resilience and contribute positively to their community.
To support the development of these skills, students participate in regular Social and Emotional Learning experiences throughout the school week. These lessons draw upon a range of evidence-based resources and are aligned with our School Values of Be Kind, Be Responsible and Be Resilient. Social and Emotional Learning is also embedded into everyday classroom practices, routines and interactions, helping students build confidence, wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging.
Below is an overview of the Social and Emotional Learning programs and supports available at Craigieburn Primary School.
A whole-school approach that supports students to develop respectful relationships, build resilience, strengthen their confidence, and foster a culture of respect, inclusion and equality across our school community.

Child Safety
Craigieburn Primary School is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels valued, respected and protected. We actively promote a culture of child safety and wellbeing through our policies, practices and everyday interactions, ensuring that the safety of children remains at the forefront of everything we do.
As a Child Safe School, we are committed to upholding the Victorian Child Safe Standards and fostering an environment where students are empowered to speak up, seek support and participate in decisions that affect them. We recognise that every child has the right to feel safe and supported, particularly those who may be more vulnerable due to their age, abilities, family circumstances, cultural background, language or identity.
Creating and maintaining a child-safe culture is a shared responsibility. Staff, students, families and members of our wider school community all play an important role in ensuring that Craigieburn Primary School remains a place where every child can learn, grow and thrive in a safe and caring environment.
